Page County Release Meanings
A Page County release record documents the end of one custody episode. It is not the same as an arrest record, a court judgment, or a live jail roster. The strongest local evidence connects the booked person, the release time, the coded reason, the releasing facility, and any destination. That last item matters in Page County because people may be held outside the county. A transfer ends one facility's custody but does not mean the person returned to the community.
Bond, recognizance, time served, sentence expiration, a court order, parole, probation after active time, and dismissal can lead to community release. Work release and home electronic monitoring allow time in the community while controls remain. A move to another jail, VADOC, or immigration custody is continued custody. Death or escape may also close a facility event, but neither should be described as an ordinary community release. The exact disposition controls the next search.
- Discharge
- The formal end of the custody or supervision status named in the record.
- Time served
- A sentence result crediting the confinement already completed.
- Detainer
- A request that another authority hold or take custody of a person.
- Parole
- Conditional community release from an eligible prison sentence.
Page County Release Paths
The agency that physically held the person usually owns the operational release entry. Page Sheriff and the Page courts may still hold the arrest, commitment, bond, or sentencing record. When an outside regional jail performed the final movement, its records office may hold the time stamp and destination. The record type should match the event being proved.
| Release path | Meaning | Best next source |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or court order | Jail custody ends while a case may continue | Jail release entry and Page court order |
| Time served | Local active term is complete | Jail time stamp and sentencing order |
| Parole or probation | The person is in the community under conditions | VADOC locator, District 39, and release papers |
| Another jail or VADOC | One booking closes but custody continues | Receiving agency and its locator or records unit |
| Immigration transfer | Criminal-jail custody may end as ICE custody begins | Jail destination field and ICE locator |
Does a dismissed charge prove release? No. A dismissal explains one case result. Another charge, warrant, sentence, or detainer may still authorize custody, so compare the court result with the jail's completed release entry.
Page County Release Record Fields
No public Page Sheriff field schema or released-booking archive was verified. A narrow request can seek the fields that tie one booking to its disposition. These are requested fields, not a promise that every local or regional system stores each item under the same label. Ask the custodian to provide existing records instead of creating a custom report.
| Field to request | What it can show |
|---|---|
| Full name, birth date, booking number | The identity and custody episode being matched |
| Booking date and facility | Where the episode began and who may hold the file |
| Release date and time | When that facility recorded the movement out |
| Release disposition or reason | Bond, time served, court order, transfer, or another coded event |
| Receiving agency or destination | Whether custody continued elsewhere |
| Charge, case, and bond entries | Links to the legal authority and the correct court file |
| Routine booking photograph | The adult initial-intake image, subject to lawful limits |
A court disposition may explain why the jail acted, but it often lacks the jail-door processing time. Likewise, a roster no-result says only that the person is not displayed now. The release entry answers the physical-custody question for that facility.
Request Page County Release Records
The Page Sheriff forms page identifies Major Stevie Owens as the FOIA officer. It accepts a completed form by email to sowens@pagesheriff.com or jstanley@pagesheriff.com, or at the administrative office. The sheriff says a $6 service fee may be imposed, that extra charges may apply, and that requests are ordinarily processed within five business days subject to exceptions. The fee is not a guaranteed total.
- Name one person and one booking episode. Add birth date, booking number, case number, and approximate dates when known.
- Ask for the booking sheet, release date and time, disposition, releasing facility, destination, bond entry, and routine adult booking photo.
- Request existing electronic records and an advance itemized estimate. Do not demand a newly compiled release list.
- Submit the form and retain the sent copy, delivery proof, estimate, payment record, and response.
- If another jail created the needed entry, ask Page Sheriff to identify that custodian and redirect the narrow request.

Page County explains that the statutory response period starts the day after receipt and excludes weekends, holidays, and closed days. An office may produce records, redact or withhold a part with a cited basis, report that it lacks the record, or use an allowed extension. A cost estimate can pause work. No official Page source promises that released bookings stay online for any set period.
Virginia Law on Page Releases
Virginia Code §2.2-3704 governs FOIA request timing, estimates, access, and cost mechanics. Section 2.2-3706 requires release on request of specified adult arrestee information and a routine booking photograph, subject to the felony-investigation jeopardy exception. That rule does not make every investigative, correctional, juvenile, victim, or supervision file open.
Virginia sealing and expungement rules are date-sensitive in 2026. On the research date, the operative version of §19.2-392.2 covered qualifying results such as acquittal, nolle prosequi, or dismissal, with other defined grounds. It did not make ordinary convictions broadly expungeable. A missing online case can reflect restricted public access, not proof of release or proof that the underlying event never occurred.
Retention, online display, and legal access are different. Ask the creating office for the record and cite the effective law when access is disputed.
Page County Outside-Jail Releases
Page County Jail was built in 1969 for 26 people and reported a 2019 average daily population of 71. A statewide fiscal 2024 report says Page spent about $1.9 million placing inmates in outside facilities. Those figures explain why facility identity is a core part of a Page County released inmate search. A Page charge does not prove that Page Jail performed the last custody transaction.
Page's adopted fiscal 2025 budget documents a renegotiated placement contract with Central Virginia Regional Jail. RSW records document historical Page contract use, but RSW's member localities are Rappahannock, Shenandoah, and Warren. Current placement must be verified person by person. A return to Page, move to another contract jail, or VADOC commitment is a transfer rather than community release.
The Page Sheriff jail page shows the local facility and its contact context.
The official jail page is a contact and program source, not a released-inmate roster.
Page County Pretrial Release
Page participates in the Old Dominion multijurisdiction community-corrections and pretrial framework. A pretrial supervised release lets a person leave jail while the criminal case and release conditions remain active. It differs from sentence discharge. Page also describes home electronic monitoring as a community-release program, but participants remain monitored and must meet approvals.
A pretrial release record should be matched to the pending Page court case and the jail's physical release entry. Community supervision at this stage does not establish a completed sentence or a final case result. The release order and next court date remain central.
Page County Work Release Deductions
Work release is another controlled sentence status. The Page program says pay deductions may include room and board, child support, court fees, and medical bills. Those deductions are local program mechanics, not a release-record fee. Work release permits authorized activity outside the jail while the sentence continues. The Page County release record should identify the actual status rather than flattening it into a simple “free” or “in custody” label.
Is community presence the same as discharge? No. A person may work, live under monitoring, or report to supervision while legal controls remain. Verify the order, program status, and agency record.
Property After Page County Release
Page's delayed-reporting instructions say money brought to the jail is deposited into the inmate account. They also advise people not to bring wallets, phones, keys, or similar property when reporting. No public after-release property procedure was found. A released person or family member should ask booking how remaining property and account funds are returned, which office handles pickup, and whether identification is required.
This detail should be confirmed with the facility that actually held the person. Property stored at Page Jail may not be controlled by a regional jail, and a regional-jail release may have its own process. Keep any property receipt or account statement with the release papers. It can help identify the facility and booking episode when names or dates are similar.
Note: A missing public procedure is not proof that property was discarded; the holding facility must explain its own release process.
Find Page County Released Inmates
Begin with the last verified custodian, not the most familiar website. Page Sheriff publishes no live current-inmate roster and no official 24-hour or 72-hour release feed. RSW's JailTracker reports current custody only. A no-result can mean release, transfer, lag, spelling trouble, or a different facility. Use a second source before reaching a conclusion.
- Identify the facility that held the person on the relevant date through Page Sheriff, the court file, or a known booking record.
- Call that facility and request its time-stamped release or movement entry, including disposition and destination.
- Check Virginia VINE for a local or regional jail event, then confirm whether “release” meant community release or transfer.
- Search Page General District and Circuit Court as the charge level requires. Compare every case and hold.
- Use VADOC only when state custody or supervision applies, and use BOP or ICE only for the matching federal system.
- File a focused records request when the online tools cannot establish the historical event.
Released people usually leave a live roster. Roster absence alone cannot distinguish community release from transfer, data lag, or another custodian.
For a same-day feed question, the Page County 24-hour release list explains the no-feed fallback. It does not publish or simulate a roster.
VADOC Page County Release Search
The VADOC Inmate and Supervisee Locator covers people in VADOC institutions and people supervised by district offices, as well as specified placements. It is updated daily, but VADOC warns that data may be inaccurate or out of date. A person released from a local-only misdemeanor may never enter this system.
| Search field | How VADOC uses it |
|---|---|
| First name | At least the first three letters |
| Last name | The full last name |
| DOC ID | A seven-digit identifier and the strongest direct key |
| Optional filters | Location, race, gender, and age range |
Open the matching record and distinguish an institution from a community-supervision location. A District 39 listing can support active supervision connected with Page, Harrisonburg, or Rockingham, but it is not a warrant search. A no-result does not prove full discharge. For actual state release, compare the locator with the release letter, Order of Release, Conditions of Probation or Parole, and VADOC records.
The official VADOC locator is shown below.
The interface covers VADOC custody and supervision, not every person ever booked in Page County.
Page County Release Court Records
Page's adult criminal courts share 116 South Court Street but use different suites and case paths. General District Court in Suite B handles misdemeanors, traffic matters, and preliminary felony proceedings. Circuit Court in Suite A handles felony trials, appealed misdemeanors, and final circuit files. Search both levels when a felony moved from a preliminary hearing to indictment or trial.
The Virginia Judiciary case-information system can be searched by defendant name, case number, or hearing date after selecting the proper court. A docket may show a charge, hearing, disposition, sentence, and disposition date. Ask the clerk for the final order, bond order, or commitment entry when the online summary is not enough. Court records explain legal authority, but the jail record still establishes when release processing ended.
The official court search landing page provides the statewide route.
Select the correct Page court and compare the docket with the physical custodian's release entry.
Page County Release Notification Channels
Virginia VINE covers local and regional jails and can report release, transfer, return to custody, escape, or death. A VINE release event may be a transfer, so call the feeding jail and check the destination. Current official material separates VADOC victim notification into NAAVI. Registration in local VINE does not automatically move into the state corrections system.
For federal prison, the BOP Inmate Locator can show a past release date and “RELEASED” location for the end of BOP custody. That does not exclude state, local, immigration custody, or federal supervision. ICE's locator primarily covers current detention and may include people released from ICE during its official recent window. A no-result is not proof of release. USMS has no equivalent public historical name locator.
These channels should not be merged into one universal search. Each answers for its own custodian. A Page Jail record, VADOC record, BOP result, and ICE result describe different custody systems.
Page County Release Reentry Support
The Page Jail MAT Re-Entry Program provides a local channel for Page residents recently released from incarceration who have substance-use disorder. The sheriff describes case management, therapy, peer recovery support, and groups at 23 West Main Street in Luray. Page's fiscal 2026 budget says county funding continued the program after grant funding ended in September 2025. Present availability should be confirmed before relying on it.
This program information does not prove that a named person was released or enrolled. It belongs beside the release record because it shows one local path after custody ends. Verification still comes from the jail, court, VADOC, VINE, or other authority responsible for the person's case.
The Page Jail MAT Re-Entry Program page documents the local service.
The program page is a service contact, not a custody-status database.
Page County Release Source Comparison
A source is reliable only within its stated scope. Match the question to the agency and use a second authoritative record when a result could reflect transfer or delay.
| Source | What it establishes | Main limit |
|---|---|---|
| Jail roster or RSW JailTracker | Reported current custody | Absence is ambiguous and not a release archive |
| Jail release entry | Time, disposition, and destination for one episode | Must come from the actual custodian |
| Page court record | Charge, order, disposition, and sentence | May not show the physical exit time |
| VADOC locator and records | State custody or active supervision | Not a permanent archive of every discharge |
| Virginia VINE | Local or regional custody event | Release can mean transfer |
| BOP or ICE locator | The matching federal custody status | Does not rule out another authority |
Note: Two-source verification is strongest when both records identify the same person, facility, event date, and destination.
Page County Release Facilities
Page County Jail is the primary local adult jail. A release may return someone to the community, place the person in a controlled local program, or transfer custody. Central Virginia Regional Jail has current budget support as an outside-placement partner. RSW Regional Jail has documented Page contract history, but current placement must be confirmed and its locator is for current custody.
- Page County Jail: ask for the local release or transfer entry.
- Central Virginia Regional Jail: identify whether CVRJ performed the release or returned the person to Page.
- RSW Regional Jail: verify current relevance, then obtain the movement disposition from Booking or Records.
No state prison, federal prison, or ICE detention facility was identified within Page County. Those systems remain relevant only when the individual record shows a transfer or commitment into that custody.
