Page County Jail Release Paths
A Page County Jail release can end with a return to the community, but that is only one path. A person may leave after posting bond, after a court directs release, or when a local sentence ends. The jail may instead transfer the person to the Virginia Department of Corrections, another local or regional jail, or another agency with lawful authority. Each event ends the stay at this building. Only a disposition and destination show whether confinement actually ended.
Community custody needs the same care. Page County Sheriff materials describe home electronic monitoring and work release. Those programs may let an approved participant spend time outside the jail while the sentence and its rules continue. They are not unconditional discharge. A release entry should identify the coded reason and any receiving agency. The related Page court order can explain the legal authority, but it does not replace the jail's time-stamped movement record.
Confirm a Page County Jail Release
The Page Sheriff site does not publish a verified live roster, release archive, or recent-release window. Start with the named booking rather than trying to infer the outcome from a public list. The full Page County released inmate search and records path can help when the custody type is not yet clear.
- Gather the full name, date of birth if known, booking date or range, booking number, and Page court case number.
- Call Page County Jail and ask whether staff can identify the release or movement disposition for that booking.
- Request the existing booking and release record, including date, time, reason, releasing facility, and destination or receiving agency.
- Check the Page General District or Circuit Court case for the order, bond, sentence, or disposition behind the movement.
- If the jail says VADOC or another jail received the person, continue with that custodian instead of calling the event community release.
Virginia VINE can add a custody-event check for local and regional jails. A VINE release alert still needs facility confirmation because an event may reflect a transfer. If the entry says VADOC, use the state Inmate and Supervisee Locator. A local-only misdemeanor or pretrial release may never create a VADOC record, so a state-search no-result does not settle the Page County Jail question.
Note: The strongest confirmation pairs the jail release entry with the court order or a second custody system that covers the destination.
Page County Jail Release Records
The Page County Sheriff's Office is the direct source for a booking and release transaction created at its jail. Its forms page names Major Stevie Owens as the FOIA officer and allows a completed request to be emailed or delivered to the Administrative Office. Requests are ordinarily processed within five business days, subject to the exceptions allowed by Virginia law. The published form says a $6 service fee may be imposed and that added charges may apply. Ask for an advance estimate and do not assume $6 is the full cost in every case.

Ask for records that already exist. A focused request can seek the booking sheet, recorded release date and time, release disposition or reason, releasing facility, receiving agency or transfer destination, bond entry, and routine adult booking photograph. Staff need not create a new report or answer a list of questions. Include one custody episode and a narrow date range so the search remains clear.
Virginia FOIA allows an agency to provide records, redact or withhold a part with a cited basis, report that the item does not exist, or identify another likely custodian. An estimate can pause work. Keep the submitted form, proof of delivery, any estimate, payment record, and response together because they form the record trail.
Page County Jail Custody Facts
Page County Jail is the local adult jail operated by the Page County Sheriff. It is recertified by VADOC and is not certified for juveniles. The sheriff reports that women have been housed there since February 2019. Juveniles are transported to a juvenile facility, but the public sheriff material does not identify a destination. No destination should be assumed.
The jail contacts published by the sheriff include Captain Randall Williams at 540-843-3339 and supervisors Dominika Seal and Michael St. Clair at 540-843-3384. Staff roles can change, so the main number is the sound fallback. These contacts can help identify the correct record route, but the written release entry is better evidence than a recollection or an unexplained roster change.
The Page County Sheriff's jail overview supplies the official facility context. The matching image below shows the source used for the jail's local role and contact setting.
Why Page Jail Releases Scatter
Page County's small jail has long needed outside beds. The contrast is sharp: a building designed for 26 reported a 2019 average daily population of 71. A statewide fiscal-year 2024 report says Page spent about $1.9 million to place inmates elsewhere, the highest outside-placement amount among localities in that report that operated their own jail. That history makes facility identity a central part of release research, not a minor detail.
County budgets and minutes document changing arrangements. Central Virginia Regional Jail has current contract support in Page's adopted FY2025 budget. RSW Regional Jail has documented historical Page contract use, but Page is not one of its member localities. Older records also mention other facilities without proving that each one serves Page now. Ask which jail held the person on the relevant date, then seek the record from the agency that created it.
A Page arrest, Page court case, and outside-jail release may belong to three different record custodians. Page can hold the arrest and commitment entry. The regional jail may hold the admission, movement, photograph, and final release time. The Page court keeps the judicial order. Reconcile those sources instead of expecting one office to hold the entire history.
Note: A past Page County placement contract establishes context, but it does not prove where a named person is held today.
Page Jail Community Release Programs
Work release is a controlled sentence status. The sheriff says eligible people are assessed as nonviolent or minimal risk, must have no pending charges, and must meet remaining-time rules. Participation requires administrator and court or VADOC approval. The published program also describes deductions that may include room and board, child support, court fees, and medical bills. A person may be at an approved activity while still serving a sentence.
The Page Jail work release and work detail source shows those local limits and approvals. The capture below is evidence of the program, not proof that any named person was released.
Home electronic monitoring is also described as a community-release program, yet it remains monitored and approval-based. Delayed reporting works in the other direction: a court orders a person to report at a set date and time to begin confinement. Late arrival is reported and may affect otherwise eligible good time. Money brought at intake is deposited to the inmate account, while wallets, phones, keys, and similar items are discouraged.
Read Page Jail Release Fields
A release record should be read as a linked set of fields. No public Page schema promises that every item appears in every record, so request the fields needed for the custody question and let the office identify what exists.
| Requested field | What it helps establish |
|---|---|
| Booking identity and number | Connects the response to the correct custody episode. |
| Release date and time | Records when Page Jail ended that stay. |
| Disposition or reason | Separates bond, court order, sentence end, community custody, and transfer. |
| Receiving agency or destination | Shows whether custody continued elsewhere. |
| Charge or case number | Links the movement to the Page court record. |
A dismissal in one case does not rule out another hold. A notation of time served describes how the sentence is recorded, while the jail time stamp shows when processing ended. A destination marked DOC requires a VADOC check. The practical chain is arrest or commitment, physical custodian, release or transfer entry, then any supervision record. That sequence keeps community release distinct from movement within the corrections system.
